🛬 Arrival & Orientation – Welcome to Malaysia!
🌟 Your Exciting New Chapter Starts Now
Welcome to Malaysia and to the British Columbia Language Centre family!
From the moment you arrive, you’re not alone — our dedicated team is here to guide and support you at every step of your journey.
Whether it’s your first time abroad or you’ve travelled before, we’re here to make sure you feel safe, confident, and at home.
Airport Arrival & Pickup
- Before going through immigration, please do not enter Malaysia as a tourist. You must go to the EMGS Immigration Area at KLIA Airport (specifically for student visa holders).
- Show your Visa Approval Letter (VAL) and flight ticket to the EMGS officer and wait there.
- A BCLC immigration officer will meet you and assist you through the student entry process.
- ❗If you exit immigration on your own as a tourist, you will be required to leave Malaysia and re-enter properly as a student — this will cause extra costs and delays.
✈️ Flight Details
• Please send us your flight information in advance so we can arrange your pickup accordingly.
👋 Airport Pickup by BCLC
- Our friendly team will greet you at the airport and take you to your accommodation.
- Pickup service is available from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM (Malaysia time) on working days (Monday to Friday).
💰 Pickup Fee
• The fee for airport pickup is USD 150.
• If you are arriving on a weekend or public holiday, please inform us early — we can provide a special arrangement with an additional fee.
Medical Check-Up (Next Working Day)
- Your medical screening is mandatory and will be done the day after your arrival.
- This is an important step for completing your visa process.
Passport Submission
- After completing your medical check-up, please submit your passport to BCLC for visa stamping procedures.
- We’ll handle the submission and notify you when your passport is ready.
English Placement Test
- To make sure we place you in the right class, you’ll sit for an English Placement Test.
- Don’t worry — it’s not an exam! It simply helps us understand your level.
Orientation Day
On your first official day, we’ll guide you through everything you need to know:
✅ Meet your academic coordinator and classmates
✅ Receive your class timetable
✅ Understand student responsibilities and visa rules
✅ Get your Welcome Kit (Student ID, campus map, student handbook)
🤝 This is the perfect moment to ask questions, connect with new friends, and begin your journey with confidence.
🌐 Stay Connected Upon Arrival
- We recommend you purchase a Malaysian SIM card at the airport or ask our staff for help.
- Having data and internet will help you stay in contact with your family and BCLC during your first days.
🏠 Accommodation Assistance
- If you haven’t arranged a place to stay, don’t worry — BCLC can assist you in finding safe and affordable housing close to the campus.
- Just inform us at least one week before your arrival if you’d like our help.
